Kathiani MP Robert Mbui will contest for the Machakos gubernatorial seat in 2022.
This was revealed by Machakos nominated MCA Christine Koki on Friday.
Koki said Machakos County has not gotten a governor with ideas since devolution took effect under the new constitution in 2013.
"As at now, I don't have a governor but I will have to deal with it until 2022 when Mbui will contest for the sit," Koki said.
She spoke during a thanksgiving ceremony at Mitaboni in Kathiani, Machakos County.
Koki made the sentiments in presence of Mbui whom she had accompanied to the function.
She said the current governor has failed the county in terms of service delivery." Our governor is busy vote hunting for his 2022 presidential bid, yet he can't show tangible projects in his county. How can you convince outsiders if your own people don't have faith in you," Koki said.Koki said Wiper MCAs including herself will campaign for Mbui when the time comes. "Constituents from other constituencies wish Mbui was their MP and that's why we will relentlessly support him in his 2022 gubernatorial bid to serve the county," Koki said.
