Kathiani sub-county residents have received free cancer screening in an awareness campaign spearheaded by Machakos ‘first lady’ Lillian Nganga.
Speaking during the event, Alfred Mutua’s wife said that cancer is treatable if detected in early stages and urged the residents to present themselves for screening in order to curb the spreading of the disease.
She advised residents to visit nearby county health facilities in case of symptoms associated with cancer.
Nganga also encouraged pregnant women to visit clinics more frequently in order to take care of their health together with that of the unborn child.
The ‘first lady’ commissioned the exercise last month to help the people of Machakos County get better lives. She is expected to tour all the sub-counties in an effort to great awareness of cancer and how it can be treated when detected in early stages.
The exercise took place at Kathiani sub-county hospital and was also graced by other county officials, including county minister for health and emergency services Naomi Mutie.
