Machakos county first lady Lydia Nganga has urged residents of Kathiani sub-county to shun every form of violence and ensure cases of violence are reported to the authorities.

Speaking on Friday during a visit to Terry's Child and Youth Resource centre in Kathiani, a home of children affected by Sexual and Gender-based violence, Mrs Nganga thanked people of goodwill who speak up come out to help such kids. 

She noted that cases of SGBV at most times go unreported mostly if the affected are children where she urged residents to avoid shying from reporting such cases. 

She also urged the authorities to give zero tolerance to cases of gender-based violence. 

Later, Mrs Nganga visited Mitaboni health centre where the county government of Machakos is embarking on upgrading it to international standards. 

The first lady was accompanied by Machakos county minister for health Naomi Mutie.
