(Photo/Cyprian Muthoka)Katine Young Stars are the winners of the 2017 Boxing Day cup that was held at Kangundo junior academy.The team won the tournament after beating Tutu Villians 3-1 goals in the final that was presided over by Tala Member of County Assembly Alex Kamitu.Thomas Maithya scored a goal for Katine in the first half before Timothy Maweu equalized for Tutu at the stroke of half time.During the second half, Katine continued their impressive performance and found the back of the net in the 54th minute through Mathias Kitonyi.During the 74th minute, Frederick Musyoki added a third goal for Katine to comfortably help the team seal a 3-1 win over Tutu.The team received a trophy and medals plus a 200,000 cash award from the Tala Member of County Assembly.The annual tournament brings together over seven football teams drawn from Matungulu constituency who battle for top honors.
