Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi donated Sh640, 000 to the building of the first Primary Boarding School in Katulani location in Yatta Sub-county in Machakos County.
Speaking during a fundraising event in the School grounds on Saturday afternoon, Mwangangi stated that his office, with support from the county government and CDF would support education in the Constituency.
“Quality education is the only thing we can offer to our young generation so as to become better citizens tomorrow. My leadership is willing to support education at all costs in this County,” said the MP.
During the event attended by parents, teachers, pupils and the Katulani residents, Mwangangi called upon the parents to embrace the fast growing education sector, and educate their children despite the gender of the children.
“In our country, education is a very important, and without the necessary certificates one cannot get a good job to sustain them in their livelihoods. I want in the coming years our Constituency to be an education hub,” he noted.
“In last year’s KCPE exams, the girls did better than boys and this is a good example to show you as parents that is outdated to decline educating girl child,” said Mwangangi
The new School is said to be the first boarding primary School, and the residents are looking forward for a better quality education. Speaking after the event, one of the excited parents, Rose Kavithe said that she is positive that a boarding school will give them better results.
