Youths and women in Nyamira County have a reason to smile after a youthful National Assembly aspirant vowed to help them set business enterprises for economical sustainability.
Speaking at Nyamakoroto region in Kitutu Masaba on Sunday, Kenneth Kaunda said helping youths and women was the only way to realise vision 2030.
He said many political leaders in the region had ignored the two groups and instead focused on activities that helped their families and close friends.
Kaunda gave out Sh500,000 to Nyamakoroto women group and another Sh250,000 for the area youth group and asked them to venture into small scale businesses for their own sustainability.
“Women and youth are very indispensable in any country’s development. As leaders, we must focus on these special groups if at all we are ready to achieve vision 2030 objectives,” he said.
He added, “Political leadership has terribly failed this region. We have seen them helping their families and close associates ignoring the very electorates that elevated them to those offices. This is what we are out to change. You have to venture into small scale businesses.”
Kaunda promised area MP Timothy Bosire to prepare for a battle of titans in the 2017 election.
“I am out to challenge the status quo and the area leadership must be ready for this challenge. I know with you people by my side, all will be well to me,” he said.
