The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) chairperson Johnstone Kavuludi has refuted claims that some members of his team are making uncalled-for demands from police officers facing vetting.
Speaking during a graduation ceremony for 23 officers at the Kenya Staff College in Loresho, Kavuludi said the allegations would nonetheless be investigated by the director of criminal investigations Ndegwa Muhoro, a member of the commission as a co-commissioner.
"I want to clatify that such uncalled-for demeands are not coming from the commission. If anybody does that they become potential candidates to be handled by the DCI," he said.
Among those who attended the ceremony included Inspector General of police Joseph Boinett and Mr Muhoro.
The officers who graduated were drawn from the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in the ranks of senior Superintendent of Police to the Commissioners of Police.
On his part Muhoro challenged the graduands to put their acquired skills into practice by effectively dealing with emerging security threats such as terrorism and drug trafficking.
