Speaking during the second day of the chairpersons of constitution commissions in an Eldoret hotel on Thursday, Kavuludi admitted that the police are the most corrupt individuals among public servants in Kenya, and urged Kenyans to play an oversight role by ensuring they report any case of corruption.

“Our mandate as the Police Service Commission is to hire, fire and discipline police officers, and we cannot do it alone, thereby we urge the public to remain vigilant and act as our watchdog,” he said.

“Report any police officer involving in corruption, colluding with thieves, refusing to conduct their mandate unless they are given some money and also harassing Kenyans, and I promise that stern action will be taken against them,” he added.

He warned citizens who collude with the police to commit crime through corruption that they will also face the law.

“As the police commission, we want to bring back the trust that people had in the police unit and do away with the corruption that has spoilt its good reputation, and soon Kenyans will see a different police sector,” he concluded.
