Former Labour Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kazungu Kambi has declared interest to unseat Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi in the 2017 general elections.
Kazungu says that Governor Kingi has failed to deliver to Kilifi residents since being elected as governor in 2013.
Speaking on Citizen TV on Sunday, Kazungu said that Kilifi locals were languishing in poverty despite the county being allocated funds by the national government every financial year.
The former CS said that the county lacks water, proper healthcare, security and food.
“It is unfortunate that Kilifi locals are suffering in the hands of Kingi and his government which has failed to deliver services to the people,” he said.
Kazungu said that he will transform the county once elected as governor.
He exuded confidence that the locals will bid him support in 2017, saying that he will win the election with more than 50 per cent.
“Kilifi locals are tired with poor leadership and want change,” he said during the interview.
The former CS added that he is still considering the party he will use to send Kingi home in the polls.
