Malindi High court upheld Kilifi County Governor's victory which had been challenged by his competitor Kazungu Kambi who vied for the county sit on a Kadu Asili ticket.
In his ruling jugde Weldon Koriri said that the pettioner through his laywer failed to approve his evedince on whether the 3rd respondents was not dully elected as Governor adding that the evidence was too insufficient to call for a fresh poll.
However judge Weldon Korir said that the petitioners lawyer failed a lot of applications before the court a result into which he punished the petitioner and ordered Kazungu Kambi to pay sh4 million as costs of the case in which the 3rd respondent will protect a total of 1.8 and the 1st and 2nd respondent be given Sh2.2 million.
Speaking to journalists outside the Malindi Hight court buildings, Kilifi County Deputy Governor Gedion Saburi praised the ruling saying that Kilif resedents have been awareded a clear and transparent justice which they have been waiting it for long.
“This is a day to rember, we have been fighting our competitors in different areas and one of them is in the corridors of justice, but today justice has been surved to the loyolities of kilifians,” he said.
According to Saburi he said they have been going forward in delivering their manestos to the residents even after many leaders who lost filed pettions challennging the victory of Kingi.
“We will not stop from bringing developments projects to our people, we are all behind our Govenor,” he stated.
Area Members of county assembly of Kilifi laughed off their competitors who had filed the pettion saying they were just but loosers who had nothing to offer to Kilifi county residents.
On August 8th Governor Kingi emerged the winner with a total of 218,686 votes followed by Gedion Mung'aro who gunnered a total of 56,546 votes ,and Kazungu Kambi emerged 3rd with 44, 470 votes.
