Kenyan Ambassador to Tanzania Dan Kazungu on Sunday supplied 24 tonnes of relief food in Kilifi County to help the over 22,000 flood victims in Malindi and Magarini.

Kazungu through the Ambassador Dan Kazungu Foundation secured the relief food consisting of 1000 bales of maize flour from friends and companies that were touched by the flood disaster that hit Kilifi County.

The CECs present included Racheal Musyoki (Devolution) Maureen Mwangovya (Gender and Social Services), Charles Dadu (lands) and Prof. Joseph Mwatela (Roads).

Speaking in Kilifi on Sunday after handing over the relief Kazungu said he would do all he could to help the victims as they were still in need of support for the next few months after their property and farms were destroyed by the flood waters.

Kazungu who is a former Mining Cabinet Secretary and Member of Parliament for Malindi said he began sourcing the relief after seeing the effects of the floods in the county.

“I decided to organize my self-talk to my friends.  I am happy the food has reached home and now is in safe hands, I am also happy because there is a commitment for the county to ensure it reaches the deserving people,’’ he said.

The Ambassador thanked the Lions Club International, Rotary international, Kingsway motors, Chandaria foundation who offered a big tent, with a capacity of holding 80 people, Signon Freighters who donated a truck to carry out the whole consignment.
