The CS termed such leaders as liars who do not want the Coast region to develop.

He wondered why some Coast leaders were always insulting the national government while all the funds they use to chest thump is allocated by the same administration.

Addressing journalists after attending a church service in Kijiwetanga on Sunday, the CS said governors, senators, MPs and even MCAs at the Coast who are in the opposition should not be entertained as they do not have the people's interest at heart.

He said its high time Coast residents joined the government and shared the national cake instead of remaining in the opposition and remaining beggars.

"Those leaders who want you (Coast people) to remain in the opposition are liars. They cheat you for their own benefits and dump you immediately after getting to power. Its time you reject them and vote for Jubilee which shall remain in power after the 2017 election,” he said.

The Mining CS was elected on an ODM ticket as the legislator for Malindi before his appointment to his current position by the Jubilee government last year.

Kazungu said it's easier to lobby for development projects which can transform lives if the people are in government.

"If we join the government, it will be easier for us to lobby from within the power circle. As Coast leaders, it will be difficult to transform the lives of people if we remain in the opposition,” he said.

Kazungu said the divisions of leadership in the Coast region were a major stumbling block to development.

He said the Mijikenda community should wake up and unite to show other ethnic groups who are in the majority the way forward.

"I will not be seeking any political position in 2017 but I will be there to tell my people the truth so that they follow the right direction,” he said.

He said the national government is investing in billions to initiate different projects that will be launched during President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit at the end of this month.
