A 56-year old KBC radio producer, Ben Baya has passed on.

According to sources, Baya passed on at Pandya Hospital in Mombasa on Monday afternoon after he developed kidney problems in early February.

Baya for the last five years had been working for KBC in Mombasa and also hosted a late night show ‘Ngalawa’ on Pwani Fm. Media personalities in Mombasa have shared condolences following Baya’s death.

Geoffrey Mwamburi, a sports commentator at Radio Citizen took to his Facebook page on Wednesday described Baya as a man who was always ready to help, especially young radio professionals. Mwamburi noted that Baya helped him learn skills when he was attached at Pwani Fm in the year 2009.

“Ben was loved at KBC Mombasa and his death is a big blow to us,” said Ochieng Odongo wa Ndago, a presenter at KBC.

The personality’s death comes few days after KBC’s top presenter, Wilkister Muga passed on.

Sources say the body of the deceased is lying at the Kilifi District Hospital mortuary and the burial will take place at his home in Kilifi County, Tezo on a date to be announced later.
