Leading lender institution KCB Bank will continue to sponsor Autocross in the country. The announcement was made last weekend by the bank’s Head of Customer Experience Mr Job Njiru.

The new announcement comes after the success of last year’s sponsorship that saw the number of participants increase for the motorsport discipline.

“We are very excited as KCB to continue investing in Autocross, we have witnessed considerable strides and we are keen on growing the sport to a higher level,” said Job.

KCB has injected 20 million Sh for 10 KCB Autocross events and 7 KNRC outings this year. The autocross season began last weekend in Mai Mahiu.

The KCB Autocross Championship has 10 events left on the calendar. The second round will take place on February 10-11, while KCB Auto X 3 will be held on March 3-4, followed by KCB Autocross 4 organized by Kenya Motor Club on April 14-15.

Other events will take place on 19-20 May, 23-24 June, 28-29 July, 25-26 August, 6-7 October while KCB Auto X 10 will be organized by Sikh Union Club on 3-4 November 2018.

The 2018 season will see 19-year-old Hamza Anwar battle for top honours in two classes after securing an Intra Africa Assurance sponsorship for the KCB Autocross Championship.

2WD non-Turbo champion Ryan Bailey is leaving the country for the UK and Rajveer Thethy is expected to shine in his absence.

Asad Anwar will be aiming for the championship that was won by Rehan Shah with Alfir Khan expected to give the two-stiff competition.
