The 2014 KCPE needy students who passed well and got admission letters to National Schools in Machakos County have benefited from a scholarship scheme from Kenya Commercial Bank Foundation, Machakos branch.
Speaking on Friday during the effervescent award of the cheques in Machakos town, the KCB branch manager Simon Adoda stated that the bank had formed the foundation with the purpose of helping the students from humble backgrounds that want to pursue their educational dreams but are not privileged as their guardians cannot afford the expenses.
“As KCB foundation we will pay school fees for the students who have applied and qualified for the awards. The scholarship is covering the whole secondary school fees, tuition fees and pocket money for the pupils for the four years,” said Adoda.
Present in the event was also the Minister of Education in Machakos County Jackson Kala who appreciated the move by the Kenya Commercial Bank Foundation.
“I appreciate KCB foundation for stepping in and helping these students to attain their goals. The County government will be issuing the primary and secondary bursary funds soon as it also seeks to better the education sector and also help the students pursue their goals and help their families in future. I urge other private institutions that have the capability of helping the needy children in the society to act the way KCB foundation has,” he said.
He urged the beneficiaries to work hard in their studies and maintain discipline in their respective schools so that at the end they perform well and be of help to the society.
