[Photo|Courtesy]The Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) has partnered with the County government of Kisumu to transform the lives of 2,000 job-seekers by creating self employment.In their submission KCB Executive Director Jane Mwangi expounded on their aim of increasing income for the youth in the informal sectors through training, mentorship and provision of business development grants. Areas of interest building and construction welding and metal work, masonry, plumbing, tile laying, electrical installation, automobile services, agriculture, beauty and personal care.Speaking at the meeting, Thursday, Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o urged KCB management to put more focus in various sectors such as:1. Promotion of agriculture through their program "Mifugo Ni Mali" special emphasis being in rice and sugar farming.2. Revival of boat making industry and giving residents safer boats made of fiber which are cheaper and more convenient.3. Promotion of local tertiary institutions through training scholarships to successful individual through the program like Kisumu Polytechnic and RIAT Institute.4. Promotion of Jua Kali through decentralisation of the Jua Kali industry to different bus terminals, to reduce congestion and provide safer grounds for operation thus curbing emergence of random fires in Jua Kali as currently witnessed.In attendance were Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng' Owili , County Secretary Dr Olang'o Onudi, Chief Of Staff Patrick Lumumba Ouya and Director of Administration Abala Wanga.
