Led by Victor Oyaro at Nyansiongo on Tuesday, they expressed their dissatisfaction with management of the milk processing plant at Sotik, citing poor payments and delaying tactics in payments that has been used over time.

They called for the disbandment of current officials, accusing them of grand corruption that has allegedly marred the sector, leading to diminishing prices of the product in the market.

“We have been customers of KCC for many years now. Many of us have been victims of underpayment and delayed payments from our clients. They are acting with a lot of impunity contrary to ethical standards,” Oyaro said.

“We request the government to intervene and have the managers sacked to reform the sector. They have defrauded poor farmers and many of them deserve prosecution in a court of law,” Oyaro added.

They also asked for the increase of price for milk to have many farmers able to raise school fees for their children in different institutions.

“The current price per litres is very little. Sh35 cannot help a dairy farmer to raise school fee for their children. We urge them to be considerate and raise the amount,” said Marry Moraa.

A number of them threatened to sell their commodity to private vendors who offer a better pay if they demands are not met by the end of this month.
