A standard eight candidate is in a coma at the St Mary’s Hospital in Gilgil after he was hit by a lorry during celebrations for the victory of President Uhuru Kenyatta on October 30.

The 14-year-old KCPE Samson Kamonde Chege of Lenana Primary school in Nakuru Town hails from Mchanganyiko estate in Bahati.

He was hit by the lorry that was mounted with powerful music system at around 6.40pm as he joined hundreds of Mchanganyiko residents who poured into the streets to celebrate Jubilee victory.

Kamonde was picked by good Samaritans who rushed him to hospital immediately.

His mother Beatrice Wacera Chege speaking to the press said the boy has a fractured leg, hand and bruises on both legs.

“I was informed that my son was hit by a lorry and was admitted at St Mary’s. He is still unconscious and already has a fractured left leg, hand and bruises on both legs. We are just praying he will be well since he was to sit his exams as from today,” she said.

She added that she had already informed the school administration about the incident and was yet to know the next cause of action.

She also appealed for help from Jubilee elected leaders in Nakuru County for her to meet the medical cost as she is not financially stable.
