The Tuesday exams failed to kick off on time in some primary schools in the county after a heavy downpour rendered some roads impassable, the Deputy County Commissioner Philemon Marachi said.

Mr. Marachi said Sake, Gagaba, and Burdurus Primary schools are among the most affected centers as vehicles delivering the exam materials could not get to the schools on time due to the poor road network.

According to the Daily Nation, Mr. Marachi said a solution shall be found and that affected candidates will be sitting for their test any time of the day.

“We are having a problem with transporting the examinations to some schools due to impassable roads after it rained but we are contacting Nairobi to send us a chopper,” he said.

The Deputy County Commissioner, however, said despite muddy and slippery roads in Banisa, Mathias Chisambo, all schools received examinations on time.

“The situation is fair but in case it gets worse because it is rainy season then we shall find a solution,” Mr. Marachi said as quoted by the Daily Nation.

In Mandera South and Lafey sub-counties, safety measures have been intensified along the Kenya-Somalia border for a peaceful examination period.
