The preparations for the national Kenya Certificate of Primary Exams (KCPE) has picked up on a high note on Monday across Kisii County primary schools with candidates sprucing up desks ahead of examination on Tuesday.
At Elimu Academy in Kisii town, 34 candidates were tidying up their desks with sandpapers.
The school was among the best performing in the last year's examinations.
Centre boss Andrew Kombo said they anticipate a better performance in this year's examinations.
"We registered good results in the last year exams but there is always more room to improve the performance," said Kombo.
Most of the schools are still in the preliminary stages of the preparations.
At Kari and Kisii Command Prison candidates were undergoing thorough instruction sessions by the supervisors and invigilators.
Kari has 110 candidates while prison has 20.
Prison Centre Supervisor Mr Tom Mogire said one candidate was yet to report for the instruction session.
He said the candidate was given a bond but were looking forward to having him seat for the examination.
