A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate at Istiqama Secondary School in Mombasa County was taken to hospital on Thursday morning after collapsing during the exam. Confirming the incident, the chairman of the school, Omar Sheriff told eDaily that the student, whose identity has not been disclosed, was compelled to sit for the Chemistry examination in hospital after collapsing. The student is said to have collapsed after completing his English exam.The candidate was taken to Coast General Hospital where doctors diagnosed him with low blood sugar. Sheriff urged students in the institution to ensure that they eat a balanced diet to avoid such incidents in the near future.Meanwhile, the national examination is going on smoothly in different parts of the Coastal region. Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers and police officers have been tasked with offering security during the exam period in terror-prone areas in Lamu County. The ministry of education is using choppers to circulate examination papers to the affected areas.Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has issued a stern warning to students who will be caught cheating in this year’s exercise.
