A KCSE candidate at Karumaru day secondary school was stabbed to death by his wife in Ikuu village, Meru County on Saturday.

According to witnesses, the deceased Jacob Mithika aged  35 was stabbed by his wife using a knife following a domestic quarrel.

The wife fled after the stabbing incident.

Boniface Mutwiri said the candidate died at Maua Methodist Hospital where he was taken for treatment.

Mutwiri said the two were heard quarreling at their shop in Abuuri market before the incident happened.

“The two were fighting after the wife refused to give him Sh20,000 that he had given to her. When the deceased left the fight she grabbed a knife and stabbed him several times,'' a witness Rodgers Munene said.

Munene added that she threatened to attack them before she fled.

The deceased brother Simon Mutua who is also the area assistant chief said Mithika and his wife had a troubled marriage after the deceased joined secondary school in 2014.
