KCSE candidates sitting for the Kiswahili Paper Two had to seek assistance from their invigilators for clarification after it was discovered the paper had several anomalies.
Kenya National Examination Council officials were found on the blame after it emerged that the paper had three anomalies
"In a question, students were to refer to a statement that was supposed to be underlined but there was no statement underlined. There were spelling mistakes that confused students who had to seek the advice of their invigilators and there wasn’t enough space to fill answers,” said a source privy to the exams.
"KNEC officials were informed and they advised the students to use foolscap to address the space anomaly but as the students finished, the examination body issued another directive that the students transfer all the material back to available space on the examination paper,” added the source
The source said the students were given five minutes to transfer the material to the available space in the examination paper but the time he claims was not enough for the students.
A teacher who also sought anonymity said he had fears that students will not perform well because of the confusion.
