Machakos Girls High School students have today paralysed normal business in Machakos Town following the release of 2014 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination results.
The students were for the better part of the afternoon singing songs of joy following the schools performance in last year’s KCSE.
Speaking during the march around town, the principal, Florence Mulatya, stated that the school’s KCSE mean score had improved significantly which was more than their target with last year’s candidates.
“Our 2014 candidates have done a really commendable work. We have registered a mean of 9.45 up from 2013’s mean of 8.7. In the 2014 results, we have 49 As and 142 Bs, an improvement from last year’s 45 As and 140 Bs respectively. Our improvement is because of our candidates together with their teachers’ hard work,” said Mulatya who could not hide her joy.
The girls have took the town by surprise on Tuesday together with their principal, teachers and members of staff.
However, speaking from his office in Machakos Town on Tuesday after the release of the results, Machakos Education Officer Richard Midaba stated the public and students should be patient as the best performing school in Machakos County have not yet been determined as many schools have not received their overall results.
Machakos Girls High School is one of the schools ranked at national level in Machakos County.
