Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in Lafey constituency have been accused of murdering a boda boda operator and seriously injuring several other residents of Sheikh Barrow location in Garissa county.
Ahmed Roble, a boda boda operator in Sheikh Barrow location was killed last Friday during a joint police and military operation in response to a suspected al Shabaab attack in the area.
Lafey legislator Isaack Shaaban condemned the acts by the security agencies saying he will never sit and watch as the military stage extrajudicial killings.
“We condemn such heinous incidents of brutality and as area leaders, we will not just sit back and watch as our residents are harassed and murdered. The anti-terrorism police and the KDF forces should use their security machinery to pursue Al shabaab attackers and not unarmed civillians,” he said.
Community representative Hassan Adhan Hassan said police in eight armoured vehicles drove to the local Sheikh Barrow shopping center and attacked them, killing Roble.
“After their own vehicle was attacked by suspected Al Shabbab, they came to this shopping centre, surrounded locals and started beating us. Some residents managed to flee but unfortunately one person died and other eight people sustained serious injuries,” he said.
The injured residents have since been admitted in various hospitals within Garissa County.
