The squad is located along the bordering Garissa and Mandera counties.

The elite unit, majorly comprising of officers drawn from the Kenya Air Force, will be tasked with risky missions that are very much similar to those conducted by the United States Navy Seal.

According to a military source privy to the latest developments, the unit will be fully armed with skills to crush and safely recover own forces or accomplices from a friendly team who have either been drowned from a plane, captured or is inadvertently lost in an enemy territory.

It is further reported that the specialised team will be trained by the US Air Force department and is set to be inaugurated by the Defence CS, Raychelle Omamo, on Tuesday, at the Nanyuki Military Airbase.
