Three KDF officers died and several others injured after a military lorry overturned along Elwak-Kotulo-Wajir road in Mandera.

Daniel Bundotich, Mandera South deputy county commissioner confirmed the incident and said the officers were in a convoy of three lorries from Wajir to Mandera.

"Three bodies of the soldiers who died and the injured have been airlifted to Nairobi," said the DCC.

Bundotich refuted claims that the lorries were hit by an Improvised Explosive Device.

"It was an accident not a terror attack as claimed,"  he said.

David Obonyo, KDF spokesman said seven soldiers who were injured during the Friday 10 am accident were airlifted to Nairobi for special treatment.

Following a series of terror attacks by Al Shabaab within Mandera, the government banned non-locals from using public transport on the roads.
