A convoy of Kenyan Security Officers was on Monday hit by explosions in Gerille, Wajir County.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
According to the county's Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer, Mr Michael Mbayi Mwenze, Kenya Defence Forces soldiers and their Kenya Police counterparts were carrying out a joint operation after suspected Al-Shabaab militants were spotted in the area,.
Mwenze said that the convoy comprised of six vehicles, four belonging to the KDF and the others to the National Police Service; the convoy included two Armoured Personnel Carriers.
Mr Mwenze said that the vehicle that was leading the convoy, a land cruiser, ran over an improvised explosive devise.
"We are grateful that we did not suffer any casualties. However, this is a warning to the officers to be be more careful when carrying out their operations," he said.
