Four men, among them a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier based at Kabete, have been arrested on suspicion they have been selling explosives.

Detectives have arrested the former soldier and three other men suspected of selling explosives in Lang’ata.

Francis Otieno Oluoch who is based at Kabete Barracks, former soldier Robert Osano and Nathaniel Kiprono who is a security guard at Athi River Mining were arrested on Sunday in Otiende estate by detectives who were posing as buyers.

According to the Nation, police recovered explosives during the operation. The cache was taken for analysis.

Also arrested were Johnson Nyarang Omayio and Simon Muturi Gichuki who reside in Kitengela and Waithaka respectively.

The National Intelligence Service (NIS), KWS and detectives from the Bomb Disposal Unit at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters were involved in the joint team for the night operation.

According to the publication, investigations have been launched to establish the source of the explosives and also in pursuit of other suspects.

Oluoch had left the service but later re-joined as a constabulary.
