The Kenya Defence Forces has been involved in Search and Rescue (SAR) operations following heavy rains that are being experienced in the country.

The Rapid Deployment Squadron of the Kenya Air Force and divers from the Kenya Navy are scheduled to continue with the search and rescue operations today, Friday, a task they begun on Thursday, 26th April 2018, in Kilifi County after River Sabaki burst its banks cutting off and marooning residents in the area.

On Thursday, more than 1,000 local residents were airlifted from danger zones to safer grounds. 

The rescue teams will conduct expansive search and rescue operations in the areas of Bate, Kwa Mjidu, Kwa Samuel Charo, John Ngumbao and Karimani Dagamra. 

"The Kenya Defence Forces will also assist the humanitarian organizations to ensure that they access the residents to provide food and medical supplies," affirmed KDF in a communication.
