The Chief of the Defence Forces Women Football Championships entered a rest day on Tuesday 24th April after the successful completion of the group stage matches on Monday 23rd.
A total of forty matches have been played during the group stages with Kahawa Garrison cementing their top position of Pool A with a total of 12 points ahead of Kenya Navy team who garnered a total of 9 points.
Armoured Brigade is leading Pool B with 10 points closely followed by 4th Brigade at 9 points while 6th and 2nd Brigade are straggling at the bottom of the table with zero points each.
On the first semifinal Kahawa Garrison which has been fielding the best soccer talents in group stage matches, will face 4th Brigade at the 3rd Battalion Kenya Rifles grounds in the most expected heated semifinal.
Armoured Brigade is expected to have an uphill task when they will take on sailors from the Kenya Navy at the 81 Tank Battalion grounds on the second semifinal of the tournament.
Senior Private Lucy Mukhwana of Kahawa Garrison is expected to carry the day as the top scorer of the tournament. Mukhwana has been carrying the flag of Kahawa Garrison by scoring the highest number of goals for the team.
She has managed to fill the basket with a total of 17 goals in the group stage matches. On the last group matches played on the 23rd April, Armoured Brigade smashed 2nd Brigade two goals to one with Lucy Kamau and Sharon Mulei scoring on the 3rd and 54th minute respectively while on the 20th minute Mercy Jepkemoi tried to rescue the 2nd Brigade with the only goal.
Hard strikes from Ruth Mwendi on the 22nd minute, Millicent Nyalala on the 55th minute, Jane Kyalo on the 59th minute, Beatrice Mwasi on the 65th minute, Shofa Koka on the 72nd minute and Miriam Mwea on the 83rd minute ensured that Kenya Navy drowned Laikipia Air Base 6 goals to nil.
An excellent show of soccer talent from Miriam Shamala on the 5th, 16th, 18th, and 30th minute gave Kahawa Garrison an early lead before goals from Lucy Mukhwana on the 28th, 36th, 44th, 65th, 77th minute and Eunice Macharia on the 35th minute made it 10 goals to nil against the engineers.
Neddy Atieno gave a lead to the 4th Brigade on the 67th and 82nd minute to defeat Artillery Brigade 2 goals to 1.
"Sarah Wasike scored for the Artillery on the 64th minute," a KDF communication said.
Currently the table stands at 12 points for Kahawa Garrison, 10 points for Armoured Brigade, 6 points for Moi Air Base, 9 points for Kenya Navy, Engineers Brigade 6 points, 9 points for 4th Brigade, 3 points for Artillery Brigade and zero points for both Laikipia Air Base and 6th Brigade.
