[Photo/Elvanis Ronoh]The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has started construction of a multi-million regional office that will house state of art equipment in Eldoret town. Principal secretary for Industrialization Patrick Nduati said the office will bring standardisation and conformity services closer to the people in the region. "The full-fledged office will cost Sh19 million for a period of 96 weeks. The percentage of completion is now at 60 percent and the period elapsed 61 elapsed," he said after inspecting the progress of KEBS new office in Eldoret town, Wednesday."The regional office will serve seven counties - Uasin Gish, Nandi, Elgeiyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Turkana, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia including Malaba border. It provides mandate standards-based solutions that promote innovation, trade and quality life," he added. He reiterated that the scope of testing to be covered include; microbiology, chemistry, food and agriculture and instrument laboratories and the Metrology scope.
