Maseno residents have been warned against letting their animals wander into the roads.
Area chief Nicholus Toro on Friday said residents should keep keep animals away from the road citing the dangers of neglecting them leaving them to roam.
He also cautioned the parents to also monitor activities of their children to prevent dangers along the road saying that over the past years there has been an increasing number of vehicles both commercial and local using the highway.
This comes after an accident occured along the Kisumu-Busia HIghway after a truck hit a cow that was crossing the road. Luckily there were no casualties.
“I urge you all to be vigilant. You should not graze the animals along the road for you are risking the safety of those in the road and the animals also,” said Toro.
Concern has also been raised by traders of Maseno market also over the increasing number of animals roaming about the market inconveniencing the traders and their customers.
“These animals really inconvenience us. A number of times I have suffered losses when they invaded my stall and consume my greens. I am now forced to come along with my son to be guarding them. I am hoping the owners will take responsibility and take care of their animals,” said Alice Akinyi.
