Parents have been urged to ensure their children play in safe places to avoid being killed by a train.

"Many children whose parents live near the railway line have been spotted playing football along the railway line corridor. They seem to be enjoying the act. Parents should know that the moving train will not spare children lives. It is good to advise them to play on safe grounds otherwise one day the train will run over them," said John Nzioki.

"Cases of locals being run over by the train have been reported in the area in the past and, therefore, precaution should be taken to avoid any unnecessary killings. Children going to school walk on the railway line corridor playing. They will not realise when the train will approach them and this will lead to loss of lives," he added.
