Controversial Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has been warned against lecturing and giving official information with regard to Gusii politics.
Kuria, who spoke at a fundraiser in Kisii on Sunday, claimed the leaders who visited President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi last week had defected to Jubilee Party.
He urged the region to support the government , adding that it stands to gain more in terms of development.
But the MP’s remarks were accompanied by demonstrations on Monday against a section of ODM rebels believed to be fuelling anxiety within the party by working with the Jubilee coalition.
And on Tuesday, North Mugirango MP Charles Geni accused the legislator of ‘imposing’ himself as a Kisii spokesperson and warned him against making ‘unacceptable utterances’ that demeans the community’s political stand.
“I am really perplexed that someone from Kiambu can come all the way to give the Abagusii people a lecture on which person to support. That is an insult to the community and he should be warned,” he said.
“Kuria should stop imposing himself as a Kisii spokesperson. His unacceptable utterances last weekend should be ignored and treated with the contempt they deserve. He should first handle Kiambu issues before meddling in our local politics,” he added.
Mr Geni demanded that Kuria makes a formal apology for meddling with politics of a ‘unique’ region and warned him against interfering with political dynamics of the region.
“I am a leader and I see it necessary for my colleague to make a formal apology for speaking on behalf of the community. We must be respected just like we respect his region. Kisii people cannot be forced to support a certain political party,” he said.
