Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Mahbub asked locals to shun political aspirants who are out to cause divisions through propaganda.

She claimed that some politicians are using propaganda to gain political mileage ahead of the August 8 polls.

The Mandera MP claimed that some politicians opposed to the Economic Freedom Party (EFP) are spreading propaganda against the party.

“It is unlawful for people to spread propaganda and lies that could easily spark divisions and violence,” she said as quoted by the People Daily.

Mahbub appealed to political opponents to engage locals on issues instead of malicious propaganda. She also appealed to politicians to exercise tolerance and spearhead peaceful campaigns.

Mahbub will be defending her seat on the Economic Freedom Party.

A section of Mandera politicians have been criticising senator Billow Kerrow’s party saying it is an outfit out to divide the region.

Economic Freedom Party was formed two months ago and has attracted huge following in Mandera and neighbouring regions.

On Tuesday, Madera governor Ali Roba said that North Eastern region is a Jubilee zone and cannot be intimidated by Kerrow's party or the opposition.
