Athi River deputy county commissioner Geoffrey Omoding has assured schools of security as they kick off their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

Speaking yesterday, Omoding asked National Resistance Movement (NRM) to stay away from examinations for smooth progress.

He said that security personnel in the area will not tolerate persons who want to interfere with the process which kicked off countrywide this morning.

“There will be no hooliganism in examination centers in the sub county,” he said, as quoted by The Star.

He also said that anyone who will attempt to disrupt the centers during this examinations period will force the law.

Officials in charge of the examinations have continued to experience challenges including impassable roads in Joska, Ndovoini and Muthwani of because of heavy rains in the area. Omoding also said that the different stakeholders are properly prepared to ensure that no cases of examinations leakage will be witnessed during this year’s exercise.

“We are more prepared than ever. There is no leakage of examinations in [Education CS Fred] Matiang’i’s era,” Omoding said.  The remarks of the county commissioner come at a time when leaders of the opposition have affirmed that they will push for another election in 90 days.
