Two Homabay gubernatorial hopefuls who lost during the ODM party primaries have advised the outfits leader and NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga not go meddle into the county's politics.

The duo (Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga and politician Omedo Misama), lost the party ticket to the incumbent governor Cyprian Awiti.

They have since moved to seek the county's top seat as independent candidates.

Speaking separately on Monday, the two defended their move to vie as independents, claiming that they lost unfairly during just concluded party primaries.

“We want to appeal to our party leader Raila Odinga to feel safe about his votes from Homa Bay and concentrate much in looking for more votes from other regions,” Misama noted.

“The nomination was messed up by party officials who were appointed to preside over it from the county up to the national level. That is why I have decided to vie as an independent candidate,” Magwanga said on his part.
