A section of Luo Elders from Homa Bay and Siaya Counties have warned Opposition Leader Raila Odinga to stop interfering with their affairs.
The elders under the leadership of Nyadiko Ong'adi noted that even though Odinga was there patron, he should concentrate on politics and let them handle the council affairs.
“We respect Raila Odinga as our political leader, but he should desist from interfering with the leadership of the elders’ council,” said Ong'adi as quoted by Nation.
Ong'adi made the remarks following Odinga's move to endorse Mr Willis Otondi as the new chairman after the death of Riaga Ogallo.
According to him, the former Premier has no powers to pick leaders for the council.
He threatened to move to court if the matter is not urgently resolved.
Meanwhile, Odinga, earlier this week hosted Luo Elders at his Opoda farm in Siaya County where he endorsed Otondi as the new Chairman of the council.
"From now henceforth, all Luo elders will work under Mzee Otondi. Mzee Adera Osawa will be the council’s Secretary General, and Owino Nyadi will be the Executive Director,” said Mr Odinga as quoted by Nation.
