Kigumo Member of Parliament Jamleck Kamau has warned Opposition leader Raila Odinga against politicising reforms in the education sector initiated by Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
The legislator accused the former Prime Minister of using the 2016 KCSE results to build his political agenda by criticising the government and discrediting CS Matiang'i.
"You cannot joke with the future of our kids. We need to allow and support Matiang’i as he strives to clean the mess in the education sector," Kamau said while giving scholarships to 77 needy students from Kigumo constituency.
Kamau said Odinga is wasting time by fuelling crisis in the education sector, saying the results which were released two weeks ago are a true reflection of the students' academic abilities.
This follows after the Cord leader termed the results as suspicious and called for an audit of the whole marking process.
"Most Kenyans are contented with the results as well as the reforms in the education sector. He (Raila) is trying to seek political mileage but we urge him not to mess around with the education system as he will mess the lives of our children," Kamau added.
