Matiang’i has been a key point man for Jubilee in Nyamira, and is believed to behind the list of delegates currently attending the mega launching of the Jubilee party.

And on Friday, County Assembly Majority Leader Laban Masira urged the minister to keep off the region's politics insisting that his continued engagement in politics was unconstitutional.

“Sometimes it’s appalling to see a civil servant busy meeting other politicians to discuss matters politics yet it is unconstitutional. He should come out clear and state whether he wants to do his work or join politics,” he said.

“He has no right to lecture our people on which party we should join because this is an ODM zone. We are tired of his continued engagement in politics and we are ready to send him where he belongs,” he added.

However, governor hopeful Charles Mochama has defended the CS insisting he has a right to discuss county leadership.

“Matiang'i is a leader and nothing can prevent him from addressing issues of governance in our county. We should not victimise him just because he meets leaders and shares with them on matters performance,” he said.
