Cord co-principal Raila Odinga’s wife, Ida has told male ‘sponsors', to keep off young girls.
Ida said such men lure the young girls into having sex with them by claiming they will support their studies and thus should be named and shamed for messing up with their destiny.
"Leave our girls alone. We want the girls to be future leaders," Ida said as quoted by the Star.
She made the remarks on Wednesday at the launch of Teen Mentorship 2016 forum in Busia where over 550 girls from 110 schools in the county attended.
Also present were several county first ladies and Governor Sospeter Ojaamong.
Ida told the teenagers not to accept free gifts from boda boda riders, and at the same time report people who approach them for sex.
"Even if you get a lift from such riders, make sure you never succumb to any of their demands," she said.
Boda boda associations were also told to rein in on their members who have been accused of seeking sexual favours from school girls.
On his part, Governor Ojaamong said the county has set aside Sh70 million as bursary for high school students to prevent a situation where parents rely on such 'sponsors'.
