County government executives have been urged to avoid indulging themselves in politics, and instead concentrate on county government functions to meet the set development goals.
This was said on Wednesday by the Nakuru County Public Service Board chairman Peter Mbae, when he addressed participants at a Human Resource and Public Service Management workshop at the county government offices.
Mbae observed that some county executives and other officials were popping their noses in local and national politics, at the expense of their public service delivery duties.
He cautioned that the law and county government regulations deter public servants against indulging in political activities, either directly or indirectly.
“I beg to make an observation and give a word of caution to some of us who are indulging in political activities in the county and even nationally. You ought to understand that what you are doing is illegal and undermines your civil service delivery work. Let us concentrate on our duties of delivering service to citizens, “said Mbae.
He told county government officials indulging in politics to resign and fully take part in politics, instead of playing double standards.
He further noted that some county executives were using public resources to consolidate their future political ambitions.
