Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta should keep off when the time will come for Deputy President William Ruto to pick a running mate.
Addressing residents of Gianchuku in Meru County, Kindiki said it would be better if Uhuru gave Ruto and the people of Mt Kenya freedom to make their own political decisions.
"The President should give the deputy president a chance to pick his running mate without interference," Kindiki said.
Kindiki, however, did not clarify whether he wanted the DP seat reserved for Mt. Kenya region alone or not.
The senator has also been skeptical of the new found unity between Uhuru and former prime minister Raila Odinga.
He previously claimed Raila could not be trusted and therefore the president and the Jubilee Party should watch out even as they embrace the peace agreement.
"I know the former prime minister once upon a time in 1997 joined KANU and after that KANU party imploded from within and never recovered up to-date," the senator said earlier.
