Members of the public will not be allowed to access schools when class eight pupils will be seating for their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has said.Only candidates sitting for the exams will be allowed in school to allow a conducive environment for the pupils to sit for the five examinable papers, Matiang’i said Tuesday.Speaking at Githurai Primary School where he was among senior government officials who assessed preparedness for the exams, Matiang’i said Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet will ensure peace prevails during the examination period.“In areas facing one challenge or the other, we have collaborated with our colleagues in the security sector to ensure our children do their exams,” said Matiang’i.He assured the nation the stage was well set for the three-day exercise assuring the public that incidents of cheating reported in the previous years will not be witnessed.Matiang’i, however, urged politicians and the general public to accord the candidates adequate time to allow them to do the examinations they have been preparing for the past years.“We have asked our leaders to allow our children to do their exams in an environment of peace with less anxiety,” added the CS.The exams officially kick off on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
