The head of the Catholic Church in Kenya Cardinal John Njue has continued to dissuade Kenyan Women between 14 and 49 years from agreeing to have the tetanus injection administered to them.
Njue said he cannot understand why the joint taskforce involving the government and church experts is yet to release its findings on the dangers of the vaccine despite having promised to have done so by now.
“We are yet to see the experts' results that show us that this exercise is okay and that there is no hidden agenda in the practise,” said Njue.
“The reason why this injection should be administered to females of the child bearing age and not men in the same age bracket is still not clear to us. What kind of disease is this that only affects women? Please keep off the exercise,” he said.
The Cardinal was speaking at Holy Family Basilica, Githunguri on Sunday where he stressed that the church will only allow its followers to participate once the exercise is found to be genuine.
“We will have to say what we have to lest you blame us when a nasty truth comes up later,” he added.
