Lunga Lunga parliamentary aspirant Kassim Pojjo has warned leaders to tread with care regarding the mineral issue in Kwale County.

He said the sensitive matter needs a lot of care, and leaders should keep off the agenda in their political campaigns.

He said politicians risk being charged with contempt of court because already, the Sh5.4 trillion Mrima Hill issue whose lawsuit is pending in an international court is yet to be settled.

He said it was wrong for leaders to use the mineral issue to gain political mileage in the upcoming general election slated for August 8.

“The most important thing to know is how wananchi will benefit from minerals and how the poisonous fumes coming from Mrima Hill will be managed so as not to hurt the population,” Pojjo said Saturday as quoted by the Star.

He further accused the Jubilee administration of lying to residents it will tarmack roads in the region.

“If the Kinango-Samburu road has not been tarmacked, not even an inch, after being launched some months ago, do you think the Vanga-Lunga Lunga road will be tarmacked?” he posed.

He made the remarks after attending the burial of two members of one family in Lunga Lunga.

Recently, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Kwale Wiper governor aspirant Chirau Ali Mwakwere have traded accusations over the mineral issue, with each threatening to release a dossier.
