Lari legislator Mburu Kahangara has asked parents from his constituency to keep track of their children’s activities saying that most of them have been left to roam in estates and villages.
Speaking in his Lari town office on Monday, the Member of Parliament (MP) said that parents must take their parental roles of taking care of their children seriously.
He added that cases of children roaming aimlessly and some getting lost are on the rise adding that, “Parents must keep track of their children.”
The legislator further asked parents to keep their children busy as the teachers strike continues instead of allowing them to roam, a behaviour he said could easily land those children into problems with security officers.
Meanwhile, Kahangara has raised dissatisfaction with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) accusing it of not willing to dialogue and solve the strike which has since paralysed education in public schools.
He said that the strike that has entered its second week now will hamper learning in public schools and prevent students from completing syllabus on time.
“The Teachers Service Commission should find a long lasting solution to the recurring teachers’ strike to do away with teachers’ stoke once and for all,” said Kahangara.
The legislator also asked top government officials to intervene and have teachers resume classes adding that candidates in publics schools will lose more if the strike does not end soon.
