The residents of Ogembo in Kisii county have been warned to keep off their animals and children along the River Gucha especially now that it is raining.
Speaking to the residents the chairman of Nyumba Kumi initiative in Bosingi sub-location, Joel Masaro said that the residents should look for alternative means of grazing their cattle instead of keeping them along this speedy flowing river which might cause harm or even death.
The warning comes after a week of mourning when a 14-year-old boy's body was found in the river as a result of grazing his father's cattle along the river.
The residents have been urged to make sure that their children and livestock are kept away from the river since it has no boundaries at the edges hence it can carry them away.
The residents, therefore, urge the county government to construct boundaries along the river in order to ensure that no harm is caused due to the flowing water which moves at very high speed.
