Residents of Charachani sub location, Keera location in Bogichora ward on Wednesday held demonstrations protesting a move by Kenya Power to disconnect electricity.
Speaking to the press after the demonstrations, the locals they said that insecurity cases have been on the rise due to lack of electricity.
“On Tuesday night there was robbery which was done in this village, so we are wondering that if the electricity will not be reconnected more people are going to be robbed,” said Solanus Bundi.
They also accused the area Member of County Assembly Peter Omanga for sidelining them, even after they reported the issue to him.
“We have reported the matter to our area MCA but he has done nothing so far, we have heard that he is in Meru for Devolution meeting, how can he attend the conference while we are suffering,” said Bundi
“It seems that we are not known to him, we wish to tell him to forget our votes since we cannot choose leaders who do not help us,” added Bundi
Jane Otiso, another resident said that the disconnection of power has affected the surrounding schools, Administration Police post and even Embonga health centre.
